Nitin Malik (Parikrama) and Ankur Tewari on Sifar
Last couple of weeks were pretty exciting! We got some really positive feedback from two of our favorite artists in India! We thought we’d share the comments with you as well:
Nitin Malik of Parkirama wrote: “I was introduced to the music of Sifar just recently by a friend who is a hardcore of original Indian music. To put it simply i was blown away by the song Roko na mujhe. I dont think there exists a better chorus than this song in the Hindi rock genre. My first reaction was – ok , finally some good and true Hindi rock and then the chorus grew on me and right now I am addicted to that song. I dont want to get into why i think its a brilliant song technically but the thing that comes to mind is that the song stands completely true to its name…. hats off you guys, you got a true fan in me. Gunah- again a fantastic song…. what i like most about the song ( apart from the overall sound of course) is the fact that the vocalist sings in his comfort zone and delivers 100% honesty in his voice, unlike a lot of people who think its so cool to sing those very very high notes. In fact that might just turn out to be the real trump card for Sifar. Main Jaoonga – What can I say? again a very honest song with a brilliant melody that you wanna hum all day and the day after and for long after that too. Such a simple melody but all the right notes. I think Sifar is probably one band who have given a glorious face to the concept of Hindi rock. The best part being that although the musical arrangement is completely western their songs dont sound like an English rock song with Hindi lyrics and that my friends why Sifar is so f***ing special. As a last comment I just wanna say if you guys dont let me know when and where you’re playing next, i will kick your arse….. coz i wont wanna miss it in the world. You guys are headed in more than the right direction. Take a bow Sifar!!!! your songs, lyrics and melodies are very very special.” Ankur Tewari of Ankur and the Ghalat Family wrote: “Rarely does one find bands where the lyrics and music have an effortless feel to them. I had a great time streaming their music on the net. I must confess that I felt that I should have written some of those tunes. Can’t wait to collaborate with them someday. Aayi yeh khabar hai, Ab Sifar ka Asar hai.” What can we say other than that we’re so flattered! And we can’t thank these guys enough for taking the time out to not only check out our music, but also write back to us! |
